King Platform Bed
A modified version of the
Woodsmith Magazine Platform Bed Plan
this bed is made from Mahogany and Curly Maple. A full image is shown below; the blue painters tape was used to temporarily hold some pieces until the glue dried.

A closeer look at the headboard shows the curly maple accent pieces and the bolection/raised mouldings used around the panels. And yes there is one piece of moulding missing;
it seems I misplaced it somewhere in the staining process. Luckily I made
extras so I just have to stain another one.
The moulding was made on a router table
using a 1/4" roundover bit and a 5/32" roman ogee bit. A close up of the moulding shows the profile a little better.
It consists of a bead running on the top, with the inner edge having the roman ogee
edge. Interesting note here, the first time I stained this moulding it looked
horrible. Apparently I did not do a good enough job of sanding it the first
time around, because it was really uneven. It took a weekend of sanding and
stripping the moulding using lacquer thinner.

The curly maple was carried over to the top of the footboard.

A 1 1/2" thick piece of mahogany was used for the side rails.

Rockler's bed rail fasteners were used to help make the bed easier to disassemble and move. With these the side rails can be removed, making the headboard and footboard separate pieces.
